Search is on for 45 apprentices
Wheatley Group is looking for 45 young people who like working outdoors to become its latest apprentices.
The recruitment drive is part of a £100million plan by our parent company to keep communities clean, green and safe over the next five years.
The new Environmental Modern Apprentices will work in Wheatley communities across central Scotland.
They will get a wage and full training in customer service, operating machinery safely and looking after the environment.
As well as getting great experience, they’ll also get a qualification at the end of the two-year scheme - helping get their career off to a flying start.
Wheatley environmental boss Alex Adrain said: “This really is a great opportunity for young people who live in our homes and communities and who want to work outdoors.
“The experience and training people will get on the job will really set them up for a great career working in environmental services.
“We know how important our environmental service is to our customers - and that’s why we’re improving our service and creating job opportunities for young people at the same time.”
Wheatley is investing £20million a year over the next five years on its environmental services and has already recruited new staff members to strengthen its Neighbourhood Environmental Teams (NETs).
The NETs keep neighbourhoods spick and span all year round, looking after green spaces, gardens and backcourts as well as closes.
Current apprentice Grant Mooney, 19, is working with the NETs and thinks the chance of an Environmental Modern Apprenticeship is not to be missed.
He said: “As an apprentice you learn skills which will benefit your future career whatever you do.
“For me, it’s about taking personal pride in helping people and making a difference.
“It’s good to be out and about meeting tenants and helping them out. People really appreciate what we do.”
The Apprenticeships start in October and last for two years.
You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a willingness to learn and a real enthusiasm for making a difference to our communities.
If you’re aged 16-19 and want to apply, go to www.wheatley-group.com or call 0141 274 5644 for an application pack. Closing date is 2 September 2016.
