Professional development

Whether you are new to working in social care or already developing your career, we support you to gain the qualifications you need to progress in the profession and provide excellent quality services to the people we support.

SVQ qualifications

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) sets the standards for social care in Scotland and what is required to be part of social care’s professional workforce.

All our staff are required to be registered in the timescales set by the SSSC.

We’ll guide you on completing your registration and keeping it updated.   If you don’t have the qualifications required for your role – SVQ 2-4, we’ll fully fund you and provide you with time and mentors to get there within SSSC’s timeframes.

Continued professional development

We want you to thrive.  When you join us, you’ll take part in a comprehensive induction programme to learn more about us, about your service and about your role.

We offer a wealth of tailored learning and development courses, both online and in person so you feel confident in your role.

We’re with you throughout your career pathway. Regular supervision sessions and our appraisal programme mean you have opportunities to talk about your career and what you need to reach or maintain your potential, be it more support, training or mentoring  to take the next step in your progression.

Staff bursaries

Over and above the qualifications you need for SSSC registration, each year we provide fantastic opportunities for staff to apply for funding to gain an accredited qualification or attend a course linked to professional development and possible career progression.
